Riz Au Lait with Pears and Lemon (Rice Porridge)

200 g of packaged Makfa white round rice

400 ml of milk

1/2 of vanilla bean

2 large pears (best if Anjou or Conference)

juice of 1 lemon and 2 tbsp of ground zest

5 tbsp of sugar

50 minutes

1. Pour milk over water and bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cover and cook for 20 minutes until the grain is ready. Let cool slightly.

2. Remove the seeds from the vanilla bean. Peel the pears, remove the seeds and dice them into small pieces. Add the pears, the lemon juice and the zest, 4 tbsp of sugar and vanilla seeds into a bowl. Add the rice and mix.

3. Place the mixture into a baking form of approximately 26 cm in diameter and level it with a spoon. Add the remaining 1 tbsp of sugar and bake at 180 °С for 15-20 minutes until the mixture is hot all through. Serve.
