120 g of brown lentils

240 g of packaged Makfa white round rice

60 g of butter

4 onions

2 tbsp of vegetable oil

1/2 tsp of ground cinnamon

1/2 tsp of ground nutmeg

1/2 tsp of jeera (cumin)

1/2 tsp of ground cardamom

1/2 tsp of ground coriander

1/2 tsp of red pepper

4 sprigs of parsley

Juice of 1/2 lemon

50 g of yogurt

Cooking

1. Cover the lentils with water and cook in a stewpot with the lid on for 15 minutes. Add the rice, salt, bring to a boil, then reduce heat and cook with the lid on for 20 minutes.

2. Dissolve the butter, add to the stewpot, mix and let stand for 5 minutes.

3. Peel the onion, and cut it in semi-circles. Heat the vegetable oil in a frying pan, add the onion, all the spices and fry for 5-6 minutes, stirring constantly.

4. Ladle the rice and the lentils onto plates, put the onions on top. Sprinkle with lemon juice, garnish with parsley leaves and serve with yogurt.
